TechCity Website
This TechCity Web-site was developed by Peter Bartram of Imagine.com Telecommunications, Inc. with offices located in TechCity. Copy was cooperatively developed with the client, TechCity, and the forward migration of copy from the original TechCity.net website. The site makes use of the current technology in web development.
The site is more then 500 pages of code and was all hand coded to ensure maximum performance and effectiveness. The site uses the following technologies: HTML, Dynamic HTML (DHTML), XHTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), javascript, java, Flash, and P3P Privacy. The primary tool was a text editor but the developer also used many types of validatation checkers including CSS checkers, html checkers, link checkers, and metatag checkers. Micosoft Excel and Word were also used, along with metatag generators, spell checkers, Pantone Color matching sofware, a DHTML HEX color selector, illustration sofware, a Hi-Resolution photo editor, color correction tools, a Low-Resolution image editor, icon editors, gif animation tools, ImageMAP software, a SQL search and index engine, a calender engine, a feedback engine, a proprietary scalable multilingual design architecture, a scalable and extensible internal architecture, password protection for administration and realm protection, multidomain DNS resolution and some skill in combining these technologies. The site was continuely tested as it was developed with Microsoft Explorer and Netscape Navigator on both PCs and Macintosh for proper web-site display with these web browsers on these platforms. No Frontpage or packaged webdesign sofware was used.
Because of the use of Dynamic HTML and XHTML within the site and the decision to wish to be able to migrate more of the site to XHTML as the technology gets perfected, older versions of Netscape and Microsoft browsers are not compatible. If you have any problems with the site, please first check and upgrade your browser. If you continue to have a problem, please fill out this Website Feedback Form. Thank you.
A special thanks to Phyllis McCabe for the use of the photos from her excellent book about Kingston.
