Central Hudson Gas & Electric serves TechCity and the surrounding region. Its' industrial users with 75 kW demand and 30 MW monthly have an average bill of $2,065, the lowest cost in the Northeast. Large industrial users with 500 kW demand and 200 MW monthly have an average bill of $15,089, the lowest in the Northeast. (Edison Electric Institute data, Winter 1997, and NYS Dept. of Public Service, 1998)

Central Hudson has 68,200 residential customers in Ulster County, all of whom enjoy the lowest residential rates in the state. Average monthly bill: $57.69.

In addition, businesses relocating to Central Hudson's service area can take advantage of special "Growth Incentive Rates" and "Revitalization Rates" that offer various discounts and rate reductions based on the utility's criteria. Central Hudson's natural gas rates are the fifth-lowest among ten suppliers in the state. Monthly residential gas rates average $158.41, which is competitive in the region.

One other note: the site can be actively hooked up to a second power grid for any major customer usage on demand. The second power grid is owned by Niagra Mohawk, another major energy utility in the State of New York (see the links to the right). Additional power can be purchased (if required for a major tenant) from this second power grid at competitive rates.
